On Saturday, February 7, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Wayne County Democratic Committee (WCDC) with Yarn Over the Falls, invite the community to gather for a Stitch-In at the WCDC headquarters in Honesdale.
This event centers on the Melt the ICE hat — a red knit or crochet hat that has become a visible symbol of solidarity with individuals and families impacted by ICE enforcement actions.
During the event:
Yarns will be available for purchase, and 100% of the purchase price of that yarn will be donated to the Immigrant Rapid Response Fund.
Participants are welcome to bring their own yarn.
Attendees should bring their own needles or hooks, scissors, and stitch markers.
Yarn Over the Falls will have all materials available for purchase for those who need supplies at the event.
Participants should purchase the Melt the ICE hat pattern in advance at: 👉 https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/melt-the-ice-hat Both knit and crochet versions are available, and all proceeds from the pattern go to immigrant aid agencies distributing funds directly to those affected by ICE actions.
All are welcome — whether you are an experienced maker, comfortable with the basics of knitting or crochet, or simply want to sit in community with like-minded people — this is an opportunity to come together, make something meaningful, and support immigrant communities through collective action.
